I am a writer / director. But at FAMU's "cinema dance" (autumn 2014) every one draws numbers from the deans hat to be put together in random teams, fulfilling a random position. I suddenly found myself being a cinematographer...
Shooting highly compressed with a 70D I set things up to avoid in camera sharpening & contrast, but using white balance to get as close as possible to the warmish look I was after. The whole workshop is only three days long and leaves one night for editing, so there was no time for proper grading.
Now that I had some time on my hands I played around a bit. Top image is straight from the camera, second one a gentle grade, the last one something a little more extreme ;-)
